Wata II Low Sneakers
Wata II Low Sneakers
The navy-blue uppers are made from durable recycled ripstop. The chunky white soles, welt, and toecap: responsibly sourced rubber from the Amazonian rainforest. Together, they make for a cute, eco-conscious alternative to your usual kick-around sneakers, emblazoned with Veja’s signature V side logo—printed, of course, using water-based ink.
Main: 100% polyester; Insole: 11% Amazonian rubber, 42% sugar cane, 11% recycled E.V.A. & 12% organic cotton
Founded by childhood friends Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion, Veja produces everyday sneakers with strong sustainability cred. The brand sources Amazonian rubber directly from seringueiros (rubber tappers) for its soles, practices radical transparency by publishing everything from material costs to chemical safety test reports, and spends zero dollars on advertising, redirecting those funds to things like higher compensation for laborers. The designs range from classic to retro, all with their signature “V” emblazoned on the side.
