Done in a grainy black leather with bright-white accents, chubby Velcro straps, and a chunky yellow sole, these sporty low-tops have a retro-ish vibe. And because they’re Vejas, that leather is ChromeFree (meaning it’s tanned using less water and salt than traditional methods) and the sole is made from responsibly sourced rubber.
Upper: leather; Insole: 11% Amazonian rubber, 42% sugar cane, 11% recycled E.V.A. & 12% organic cotton
Founded by childhood friends Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion, Veja produces everyday sneakers with strong sustainability cred. The brand sources Amazonian rubber directly from seringueiros (rubber tappers) for its soles, practices radical transparency by publishing everything from material costs to chemical safety test reports, and spends zero dollars on advertising, redirecting those funds to things like higher compensation for laborers. The designs range from classic to retro, all with their signature “V” emblazoned on the side.
